Harman Equips Genesis GV90 with Bang & Olufsen 3D Sound

[Financial News] Harman International Korea will supply the Bang & Olufsen Premiere 3D Sound System for the Genesis GV90, Genesis’s first ultra-large electrified flagship SUV. The system combines 25 speakers with cutting-edge audio technology to deliver immersive sound comparable to that of a live concert venue, setting a new standard for luxury car audio.
Harman International Korea announced on the 14th that it has installed the Bang & Olufsen sound system in the Genesis GV90 to provide a clear soundstage for everyone inside the vehicle. The system was completed through close collaboration between sound engineers from Genesis and Harman.
Each seat is equipped with three-way bi-amp front and rear door speakers, a two-way center-channel speaker, and a subwoofer. Headliner and headrest speakers bring the total to 25, creating an optimized sense of space.
The system’s distinctive design, inspired by Bang & Olufsen’s heritage, also stands out. The brand’s signature Acoustic Lens Technology (ALT) was developed in a GV90-specific Lamella Curtain Motion ALT version and applied to an automobile for the first time. A sturdy, double-anodized aluminum lamella structure opens like a curtain, appealing to both the eyes and ears. The speaker grilles feature a wave-shaped aluminum surface with Genesis’s signature G-Matrix perforation pattern, enhancing harmony with the vehicle’s interior design.
User convenience has also been enhanced. Through Beosonic, an intuitive graphic sound-control interface, users can select four distinctive sound spaces with a simple touch. The newly added pinch-and-zoom function enables fine adjustment of the surround level across 10 steps.
The system also incorporates a range of advanced audio technologies. Virtual Venue Live analyzes the vehicle’s acoustics in real time and reproduces the sound-field effects of actual venues—including Bang & Olufsen Home, Boston Symphony Hall, and Wembley Stadium—even capturing occupants’ voices and applause. Harman’s proprietary QuantumLogic Immersion 3D Surround technology maximizes the sound’s height and sense of space. The system also demonstrated its performance by becoming the first in a complete vehicle to receive Hi-Res Audio certification.
Other features include Dolby Atmos support, a rear-focus mode optimized for rear-seat listening, and multichannel processing technology that reproduces 5.1- and 7.1.4-channel content. Meanwhile, Genesis and Harman will host a special GV90 exhibition at Genesis Suji through the 27th, offering visitors an opportunity to experience the Bang & Olufsen Premiere 3D Sound System. The exhibition will operate daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., except on Chuseok Day.
