Airport Railroad Invites Students in Special Education Classes to Hands-On Rail and Aviation Program

【Financial News Incheon = Reporter Han Gap-su】 Airport Railroad has created an opportunity for students in special education classes to experience rail and aviation firsthand.
Airport Railroad said on the 14th that it had invited students from special education classes at Seoul Geumho Elementary School on the 11th, together with Kyochon F&B, to participate in a hands-on rail and aviation program.
The program was organized to give students in special education classes, who may have relatively fewer opportunities for diverse experiences, a chance to directly explore the rail and aviation sectors through Airport Railroad’s signature educational program.
Airport Railroad’s hands-on educational program began in 2007 and is notable for allowing participants to experience both rail and aviation in one program. Students can deepen their understanding of the two sectors by following the actual travel process, from using a train to completing airport departure procedures.
The program has also been recognized for its educational donation activities. Airport Railroad received the Educational Donation Award from 2015 through 2017, an award organized by the Ministry of Education, and was inducted into the Educational Donation Hall of Fame in 2018. It received the Educational Donation Award again in 2020 and 2023.
The day’s program began at the Seoul Station City Airport Terminal operated by Airport Railroad. Students first received rail and aviation safety training, learning how to evacuate safely in the event of an emergency on a train and about aviation security. They then experienced the actual airport departure process, including mock passport issuance, ticketing, check-in, and departure screening.
The students later boarded an Airport Railroad express train to Incheon International Airport Terminal 1. After traveling by train for about 43 minutes from Seoul Station to Incheon International Airport Terminal 1, they visited the Incheon International Airport Observatory, where they viewed the airport and watched aircraft take off and land.
They also learned about the airport’s major facilities and operations, exploring its functions and role, which they would not normally have an opportunity to experience. Finally, they visited the K-CULTURE Museum, where they experienced a variety of cultural content before concluding the program.
Ji Yong-chan, head of Airport Railroad’s Customer Business Division, said, "I hope this hands-on program will help students become familiar with rail and aviation and serve as an opportunity for them to gain a variety of experiences."
