[Financial News] Dunamu, which operates the digital-asset exchange Upbit, is supporting a space for young startups at Seoul National University. Together with Seoul National University College of Business, it opened the SNU x Upbit Startup Studio, a support space for young startups.
According to the virtual-asset industry on the 14th, Dunamu and Seoul National University College of Business held the Welcome Day event on the 10th to join forces in revitalizing the startup ecosystem.
The event was attended by the representatives and employees of seven startups that completed their move-in on the first of this month, Dunamu executives including Chairman Song Chi-hyung, and faculty members of Seoul National University College of Business. The seven startups selected after a screening process were Breadcrumb, Stillcut, Iruri Labs, Beli Labs, Theta One Korea, PION, and LeadAxis. These promising companies have been recognized for their distinctive technological capabilities and growth potential in fields including deepfake detection, medical artificial intelligence, insomnia treatment, and education artificial intelligence transformation (AX) solutions.
At the event, Song Chi-hyung, chairman of Dunamu, had an in-depth exchange with aspiring and early-stage founders as a senior entrepreneur. After listening to presentations about the resident companies’ businesses, Song personally answered questions submitted in advance and from the floor, leading the discussion. Having grown Upbit into a leading digital-asset exchange in South Korea, he showed deep empathy for the practical concerns and fear of failure faced by early-stage startups, earning an enthusiastic response from attendees.
As part of its ESG focus on youth and talent development, Dunamu is working with Seoul National University to provide key infrastructure free of charge to help the resident teams grow. For up to two years, the companies will receive a high-quality work environment, including dedicated offices, shared spaces, and work equipment. Dunamu also plans to provide customized Value Up programs in various areas to enhance corporate value, including mentoring from legal, finance, accounting, security, and marketing experts through Office Hour sessions, as well as CEO roundtables.
In his welcoming remarks, Song Chi-hyung, chairman of Dunamu, said, "In the early stages of founding a company, you face uncertainties that are difficult to predict, but the process of enduring successes and failures, both large and small, and turning them into results is itself the greatest asset an early-stage startup can have." He added, "By honestly sharing the experience I have gained in the field, I will fulfill my role as a reliable pacemaker so that startups leading innovation in South Korea can achieve sustainable growth."
