President Lee to Hold Sequential Summits with Five Central Asian Countries from the 14th to the 16th

[Financial News] President Lee Jae Myung will engage in a series of summit meetings with the five Central Asian countries from the 14th to the 16th.
The bilateral talks were arranged in conjunction with the first Korea-Central Asia Summit, which will be held in Seoul on the 16th. President Lee is scheduled to meet individually with the leaders of the five Central Asian countries attending the summit to discuss bilateral relations and ways to expand practical cooperation.
As his first engagement, Lee will hold talks with the president of Uzbekistan on the 14th. He is also scheduled to meet with Masato Kanda, president of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), that day.
On the 15th, he will hold bilateral talks with the leaders of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan. On the 16th, he will meet separately with the leaders of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
The Korea-Central Asia Summit on the 16th will be the first multilateral summit hosted by South Korea with Central Asian countries. Through the summit, the government plans to elevate the cooperation framework, which has been centered on ministerial-level meetings since the launch of the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum in 2007, to the leaders’ level.
The government also plans to adopt the Seoul Declaration, outlining a mid- to long-term vision for cooperation, and establish a sustainable multilateral cooperation framework with Central Asian countries.
After the summit, the Korea-Central Asia Business Summit will be held with the participation of the Central Asian leaders and approximately 500 government and business representatives from both sides.
