[Financial News] Lotte Mart and Super will hold the citizen-participation running event 'Tongkeun Run' for the first time, donating all entry fees.
According to industry sources on the 14th, Lotte Mart and Super will hold the 'Tongkeun Run' for 3,000 participants at Peace Plaza in World Cup Park, Sangam, Seoul, on November 14. The event will be co-hosted with Hope Friend Hunger Countermeasures and sponsored by the Seoul Metropolitan Government.
Of the participants, 1,000 will be employees and their family members and acquaintances. The remaining 2,000 spots for members of the general public will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis through the official website starting at 1 p.m. that day. The courses are divided into 3 km, 5 km, and 10 km routes.
All entry fees paid by the 2,000 general participants will be donated. The total amount, approximately 60 million won, will be used to support energy-vulnerable groups through Hope Friend Hunger Countermeasures and to fund treatment for children at the Bobath Children's Rehabilitation Center.
Participants will receive a package containing a running T-shirt and sports socks, while finishers will be given a private-brand (PB) 'Oneuljoeun' product package and a finisher's medal.
Starting this year, Lotte Mart and Super is expanding the 'Tongkeun' brand beyond discount events into social contribution activities. The company has previously operated 'Tongkeun Day' and 'Mega Tongkeun,' and plans to use this event to further promote the values of sharing and mutual growth.
Cha Woo-chul, CEO of Lotte Mart and Super, said, "We are introducing a new running festival that combines healthy fun with sharing through 'Tongkeun,' a leading brand familiar to our customers. We hope many citizens will join this event, where all entry fees will help neighbors achieve self-reliance. We will continue to develop 'Tongkeun' into a brand that shares social value and promotes mutual growth."
