[Financial News] SK Biopharmaceuticals has received the highest rating of 'AAA' in Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI)'s ESG Ratings for three consecutive years. SK Biopharmaceuticals is the first domestic pharmaceutical company to receive an AAA rating for three consecutive years.
According to SK Biopharmaceuticals on the 14th, MSCI ESG Ratings assess a company's ability to manage key risks and opportunities related to environmental, social, and governance factors by comparing it with global peers. Amid recent changes in the assessment methodology that have strengthened the criteria for evaluating the transparency and supporting evidence of ESG activities, SK Biopharmaceuticals maintained the highest rating.
In this assessment, SK Biopharmaceuticals received high marks for corporate conduct, human capital development, and product quality and safety. Its ethical management systems, including compliance frameworks and accounting and tax transparency, as well as employee competency development programs and organizational culture improvement initiatives, were evaluated positively.
In the area of product quality and safety, the assessment reflected the company's management of pharmaceutical quality and safety risks based on a systematic quality management system and global certification framework. To strengthen the quality of its pharmaceutical supply chain, the company has joined The International Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Consortium (Rx-360), a global initiative, and is expanding company-wide GxP training.
SK Biopharmaceuticals is also striving to create social value through its innovative new drug, 'cenobamate.' The cumulative number of patients worldwide prescribed cenobamate has exceeded 300,000, and the social value generated by SK Biopharmaceuticals in 2025 was estimated at 498.7 billion won. Of this amount, social performance, including improvements in quality of life through products and services, accounted for 452.4 billion won.
"Maintaining the MSCI ESG AAA rating for three consecutive years as the first domestic pharmaceutical company to do so is a significant achievement," said Lee Dong-hoon, CEO of SK Biopharmaceuticals. "We will continue to expand social value through innovative new drugs and business growth and strengthen ESG management that meets global standards."
