Lee's approval rating falls to 33.8%, another post-inauguration low; People Power Party and Democratic Party within margin of error

[Financial News] A poll released on the 14th found that President Lee Jae Myung’s job approval rating had fallen for nine consecutive weeks, setting another record low since he took office. In party support, the People Power Party overtook the Democratic Party for the first time in more than two months.
According to a survey conducted by Realmeter for the Energy Economy Newspaper from the 7th to the 11th among 2,515 people aged 18 or older nationwide, the positive assessment of President Lee’s job performance stood at 33.8%. That was down 3.6 percentage points from the previous week.
Negative assessments stood at 63.3%, up 3.8 percentage points from the previous week. The gap with positive assessments was 29.5 percentage points, with negative assessments leading outside the margin of error for the seventh consecutive week. “Don’t know” responses accounted for 2.9%.
Realmeter said that despite recent summit diplomacy, controversy over Cabinet appointments, consideration of deploying troops to the Strait of Hormuz, and uncertainty over real estate policy had contributed to growing negative sentiment. It said the loss of support was particularly pronounced among liberals and people in their 20s.
The results on party support were also a setback for the ruling party. In a survey of 1,003 people aged 18 or older nationwide conducted on the 10th and 11th, the People Power Party scored 42.1% and the Democratic Party 36.1%. This was the first time in more than two months that the People Power Party had led the Democratic Party, since a survey conducted on June 25–26.
The Democratic Party was down 5.7 percentage points from the previous survey, while the People Power Party was up 4.5 points. The gap between the two parties was 6.0 percentage points, within the margin of error.
Realmeter cited the burden of issues facing the administration, including uncertainty over real estate policy and controversy over Cabinet appointments, as factors behind the Democratic Party’s decline in support. By contrast, it said the People Power Party benefited from backlash against controversies over government appointments, as well as a consolidation of support among people in their 20s, in the Chungcheong region, and in Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam (PK).
The Cho Kuk Innovation Party scored 4.7%, while the Progressive Party and the Reform Party each scored 1.3%. Undecided voters accounted for 12.2%.
The margin of sampling error for the presidential job approval survey was ±2.0 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, and the response rate was 4.5%. For the party support survey, the margin of sampling error was ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, and the response rate was 3.6%.
