【Financial News Jeonnam-Gwangju = Hwang Tae-jong, Reporter】"Donate to Jeonnam-Gwangju through the Hometown Love Donation Program and receive gat kimchi."
Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City (Gwangju Metropolitan City) is holding a Hometown Love Donation Program event throughout September to mark Chuseok. The first 400 donors who contribute at least KRW 100,000 and complete an order for a return gift will receive an additional 2 kg of gat kimchi.
According to Gwangju Metropolitan City, the Hometown Love Donation Program allows individuals to donate up to KRW 20 million annually to a local government other than the one where they are registered as residents. Donors receive return gifts worth up to 30% of their donation. They also receive a 100% tax deduction for donations of up to KRW 100,000, a 44% deduction for the portion exceeding KRW 100,000 up to KRW 200,000, and a 16.5% deduction for the portion exceeding KRW 200,000. The donations are used for projects needed to improve residents’ welfare.
The event is designed to raise interest in the Hometown Love Donation Program and promote the consumption of local agricultural products. Participants can join through Gohyang Sarang e-Eum, the official platform operated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS).
Park Ju-hwan, head of Gwangju Metropolitan City’s Hometown Love Division, said, "We organized this event to share the sentiment of thinking of one’s hometown through donations ahead of Chuseok and to promote local agricultural products as well." He added, "We hope for your interest and participation in the Hometown Love Donation Program."
