[Financial News] Independent lawmaker Han Dong-hoon has continued his offensive against Kim Seung-won, the nominee for Minister of Justice. This time, he proposed solidarity with the so-called “Jang Dong-hyuk’s party leadership faction,” calling on them to fight together.
On the 14th, Han Dong-hoon wrote on Facebook, “The Jang Dong-hyuk party leadership faction attacked me by siding with the Democratic Party of Korea’s argument, claiming that I gave the Democratic Party an excuse to attack the source of the tip and that ‘oppa’ was not the essence of the issue. They also told me to stay quiet because the left was rallying around me. But the reality is different.”
Earlier, Jang Dong-hyuk, the People Power Party leader, appeared on the YouTube channel Pen & Mike TV on the 8th and said, “Continuing to emphasize ‘oppa’ while attacking Kim Seung-won could obscure the problems with the nominee and the essence of the issue.”
In response, Han Dong-hoon expressed his displeasure, saying, “Some people are uncomfortable with mentioning the term ‘oppa,’ which broker Yang uses to address Democratic Party of Korea politicians, including Kim Seung-won.” He added, “Needless to say, the Democratic Party of Korea—and the Jang Dong-hyuk party leadership faction as well—are telling me, just like the Democratic Party, not to talk about ‘oppa.’”
The following day, the 13th, Han Dong-hoon held a press conference at the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea and lashed out at the so-called “Jang Dong-hyuk party leadership faction,” saying, “If you are not going to fight together, do not help the Democratic Party of Korea or obstruct me. Just put a flower crown on your head and beat a drum.”
He said, “At the time, Kim Seung-won was a ‘deut-bo-jap’—a slang term meaning an unknown nobody—so who would conduct a targeted investigation into a ‘deut-bo-jap’?” He continued, “Since 200 people are trying to fight me alone right now, I have to fight more than 200 times harder than usual.”
He emphasized, “Those 200 people include 180 members of the Democratic Party of Korea, but also about 10 members of the Jang Dong-hyuk party leadership faction.” He added, “If I can stop this, I will write not just 50 social media posts a day, but even 5,000.”
Han Dong-hoon, who had sharply criticized the “Jang Dong-hyuk party leadership faction,” proposed solidarity just one day later.
Han Dong-hoon emphasized, “The Lee Jae Myung administration, which had arrogantly wielded power, has now begun to waver before the angry public.” He added, “We are not so idle that the party leadership faction can hold us back.”
He urged them, saying, “I am fighting alongside many People Power Party lawmakers through communication and cooperation.” He continued, “I sincerely hope that the Jang Dong-hyuk party leadership faction will join this important fight for the people, even now.”
