Trump Presses the Fed Again: "The United States Should Receive the World's Lowest Interest Rates Regardless of the Fed's Formula"

[Financial News] U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated on the 13th (local time) that he favors lower interest rates, saying, "The U.S. economy is so strong that, regardless of their formula, we should receive the lowest interest rates in the world."
Asked whether the Federal Reserve System (Fed), the United States' central bank, is expected to raise its benchmark interest rate at the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting on the 15th and 16th, he said, "I don't know," and made the remarks.
He also said, "The credit of the United States is the best in the world. We are making other countries rich. We can end that situation in two minutes."
Meanwhile, Elaine McCusker, chairman of the White House National Economic Council (NEC), appeared on CNN that day. Asked whether President Trump would accept a rate hike if the Fed's FOMC raises rates on the 16th, she replied, "President Trump respects the independence of Fed Chair Kevin Warsh 100%," adding, "Whatever decision Warsh and the Fed make, we will support it 100%."
Regarding Trump's warning to the Fed on the 4th that "if you don't lower interest rates, we will stop trading with countries with which we run trade deficits," he said, "I don't expect trade to go to zero, but I think the president has a very strong opinion that rates need to be much lower."
Trump, who is visiting Ireland, made the remarks while speaking with reporters at his Doonbeg golf course that day.
