Opening the Digital Cadastral Resurvey Era with AI... MOLIT Holds Digital Cadastral Day

[Financial News] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is holding an event to review the achievements of the cadastral resurvey project and strengthen cooperation among relevant institutions.
According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on the 14th, the Ministry and Korea Land and Geospatial InformatiX Corporation (LX) will hold the commemorative event for the 6th Digital Cadastral Day on the 16th at the Cadastral Training Institute in Gongju, South Chungcheong Province.
Digital Cadastral Day is a major annual event in the cadastral field, held to commemorate the enactment of the Special Act on Cadastral Resurvey. The cadastral resurvey project is a key national infrastructure initiative that corrects errors in cadastral maps drawn on paper more than 110 years ago and establishes precise digital coordinates for the entire country.
At this year’s ceremony, Korea Land and Geospatial InformatiX Corporation will be redesignated as the institution responsible for carrying out the cadastral resurvey, performing public functions such as supporting surveying and investigation work. A designation certificate will be presented at the event. Since the institution-responsibility system was introduced in September 2021, private cadastral surveying firms’ participation in cadastral resurvey projects has risen from 5.9% to 51.0%, while the project period has been shortened from an average of two years to 1–1.5 years.
MOLIT has recently begun introducing artificial intelligence technology in earnest to the cadastral resurvey project. Since last year, it has used AI to automatically extract surveying control points, reducing administrative work and budgets while shortening project timelines. The event will also feature the Cadastral Resurvey AI Short-Form Contest, exploring the future of digital cadastral systems through AI and other new technologies.
A MOLIT official said, "We will more actively integrate new technologies such as AI and digital twins into cadastral resurvey projects to better protect the public’s land property rights and complete a digital national territory that serves as a strong foundation for future mobility and smart cities."
