[Financial News] LG Display Co., Ltd. is accelerating its company-wide AI transformation (AX) by spearheading the 'AX Squad,' in which field employees directly utilize artificial intelligence (AI) to improve their work processes. With the aim of using AI to solve problems employees encounter in their actual work, it has been reported that approximately 450 projects have been identified to date.
According to LG Display Co., Ltd. on the 13th, the 'AX Squad' is an execution-oriented company-wide project in which working-level employees from each business unit directly identify problems or repetitive tasks encountered in their actual work as AI projects and develop solutions using AI tools. Expert AI professionals from the AX Group participate as coaches to provide support, enabling all employees—including general office staff, development personnel, and production staff—to utilize AI to solve these tasks.
The core of LG Display Co., Ltd.'s 'AX Squad' lies in collaboration between working-level employees, who most accurately grasp on-site issues, and experts familiar with AI tools. Through coaching from AI experts within the AX Group, these employees produce deliverables that are highly practical and actionable. As working-level employees directly implement improvement plans using AI, AI utilization capabilities are internalized in the field, and successful cases are expected to lead to the widespread adoption of AX throughout the organization.
Actual results are also emerging. With the entire LG Display Co., Ltd. organization participating in the AX Squad, the cumulative number of projects alone has reached over 450. Approximately 190 AX projects have been automated, including a defect classification simplification program in the manufacturing sector, an optical simulation tool in the development sector, and an employee survey system in the HR sector.
Applications developed by employees through the AX Squad are shared on LG Display Co., Ltd.'s in-house app market, 'HI-D Agent Hub,' allowing any employee to easily download them. 'HI-D Agent Hub' is also a platform developed directly by employees.
Since last year, LG Display Co., Ltd. has been conducting AX training courses, including VIBE coding, for all employees. At the same time, to overcome the challenge of not being able to use external VIBE coding tools due to the need to utilize security-sensitive internal data, the company has been continuously preparing for the transition to AX by establishing an in-house VIBE coding agent called 'HI-D CODE'.
LG Display Co., Ltd. declared its full-scale transition to AX last year and is prioritizing its application to manufacturing and development organizations, which form the foundation of a technology-centric company. Starting in the second half of this year, the company is actively expanding the transition to AX to non-manufacturing and development sectors, including purchasing and supply chain, customer support, finance and management, and sales and marketing.
"The AX Squad is a company-wide AI innovation drive system in which employees, who were previously limited to the role of simple AI users, directly participate in everything from project formulation to execution," an LG Display Co., Ltd. official stated. "We will accelerate our transition into a technology-centric company through business innovation and the internalization of AI involving all employees."
