Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City (Gwangju Metropolitan City) announced that an Onnuri Gift Certificate refund event will be held at 60 traditional markets—24 in Gwangju and 36 in Jeonnam—for five days from September 16 to 20 ahead of the Chuseok holiday. The event, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF), aims to revitalize traditional markets and ease citizens’ grocery expenses. 【Financial News Jeonnam-Gwangju = Hwang Tae-jong】Ahead of this year’s Chuseok holiday, citizens who purchase domestically produced agricultural, livestock, and fishery products at 60 traditional markets in the Jeonnam-Gwangju area—24 in Gwangju and 36 in Jeonnam, including overlapping markets hosting both agricultural and livestock product and fishery product refund events—can receive up to 40,000 won in Onnuri Gift Certificate refunds.
According to Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City (Gwangju Metropolitan City) on September 13, an Onnuri Gift Certificate refund event will be held at 60 traditional markets for five days from September 16 to 20. The event, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF), is intended to revitalize traditional markets and ease citizens’ grocery expenses.
Refunds are set at 10,000 won for purchases of at least 34,000 won and 20,000 won for purchases of at least 67,000 won. The per-person refund limit is 20,000 won for agricultural and livestock products and 20,000 won for fishery products. At markets holding both refund events, each person can receive up to 40,000 won. Shoppers can visit a refund booth in the market with their receipt and identification.
Oh Young-geol, head of Gwangju Metropolitan City’s Economic and Startup Bureau, said, "I hope citizens will shop economically at traditional markets ahead of Chuseok and also benefit from the Onnuri Gift Certificate refunds." He added, "We expect this event to ease the burden of shopping for citizens while contributing to increased sales at traditional markets and revitalization of the local economy."
In Gwangju, the agricultural and livestock product refund event will be held at 11 locations: △Dong-gu—Daein Market and the Namgwangju Market Association (Namgwangju Market and Namgwangju Haetteuneun Market); △Seo-gu—Hwajeong-dong Seobu Market and the Yangdong Traditional Market Association (Yangdong Market, Yangdong Seafood Market, Yangdong Dried Seafood Market, Yangdong Gyeongyeol-ro Market, Yangdong Bokgae Market, Yangdong Dakjeon-gil Market, and Yangdong Industrial Supplies Market); △Nam-gu—Mudeung Market and Bongseon Market; △Buk-gu—Malbau Market and Unam Market; and △Gwangsan-gu—Songjeong Maeil Market, Usan Maeil Market, and 1913 Songjeong Station Market.
