A Helping Hand for Nepal...Second Contingent of Korea’s Disaster Relief Team Arrives in Kathmandu

[Financial News] The second contingent of the Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT) arrived in Kathmandu on the 11th local time with relief supplies to support Nepal’s response to severe flooding.
The second contingent arrived at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu at around 8:44 a.m. aboard the Air Force’s KC-330 Cygnus, a multipurpose aerial refueling aircraft.
The second contingent consists of eight members, with two personnel each from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), National Fire Agency (NFA), Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and National Medical Center. They are scheduled to operate locally for a total of seven days. The aircraft also carried relief supplies worth approximately 180 million won, including tents, winter clothing, and blankets donated by companies to a Korean nongovernmental organization (NGO).
The first KDRT contingent, comprising 44 members and dispatched on the 2nd, departed Nepal that day and is scheduled to arrive in South Korea on the 12th. The government will continue working with Nepalese authorities to support the families of missing South Korean nationals.
The Joint Government Rapid Response Team will be renamed the “Joint Government Response Team” starting on the 12th and reorganized into a seven-member team from MOFA, the Korean National Police Agency, and the National Forensic Service. Personnel may be replaced or additional members dispatched if necessary.
Personnel from the Korean National Police Agency and the National Forensic Service will work jointly with Nepalese personnel at the National Forensic Science Laboratory to assist with identifying the deceased and perform related duties.
