Chung-Ang University’s Early Admissions Competition Rate Reaches 34.85-to-1; Creative Essay Track for Currently Enrolled Students Hits 95.99-to-1

 Chung-Ang University’s Seoul Campus recorded a competition rate of 34.85-to-1 in its 2027 early admissions. The newly introduced Creative Essay admissions track posted a rate of 95.99-to-1, while the Growth-Oriented Talent comprehensive school-record admissions track recorded 57.64-to-1.
Chung-Ang University (CAU) announced on the 11th that 82,671 applicants applied for 2,862 places across its Seoul and Da Vinci campuses after early admissions applications closed. The combined competition rate for the two campuses was 28.89-to-1.
Among the newly introduced admissions tracks, the Creative Essay track recorded a high competition rate of 95.99-to-1. The Growth-Oriented Talent comprehensive school-record admissions track posted 57.64-to-1. Among the existing tracks, the General Essay track recorded 93.06-to-1, while the Eoullim track recorded 33.95-to-1.
The highest competition rate by admissions unit was recorded in the Department of Media and Communication under the General Essay admissions track. Its rate was 175.33-to-1.
Under the Creative Essay admissions track, the School of Public Service recorded 154.1-to-1, while the Department of Psychology posted 151.5-to-1.
Under the Growth-Oriented Talent comprehensive school-record admissions track, the School of Convergence Engineering recorded the highest rate at 120.33-to-1, followed by the Department of Chemical Engineering at 105.75-to-1 and the School of Mechanical Engineering at 90.5-to-1.
Under the Convergence Talent admissions track, the Division of Medicine recorded 39.29-to-1, followed by the School of Convergence Engineering at 36.5-to-1 and the Department of Chemical Engineering at 29-to-1.
This year, CAU introduced the Creative Essay admissions track, which is open only to currently enrolled students, and the Growth-Oriented Talent comprehensive school-record admissions track, which applies minimum CSAT requirements and interviews.
Kim Jeong-ung, CAU’s director of admissions, said, "We introduced the Creative Essay and Growth-Oriented Talent comprehensive school-record admissions tracks to expand opportunities for the final group of applicants before the introduction of the 2022 revised national curriculum." He added, "We believe these changes to the admissions tracks contributed to the increase in applicants."
