Sookmyung Women's University’s Early Admissions Draw 15.20 Applicants per Place; Essay-Based Track at 46.46 to 1

In Sookmyung Women's University's 2027 early admissions, the essay-based track recorded the highest competition ratio among the major tracks at 46.46 to 1. The overall early admissions ratio was 15.20 to 1, while the Division of Pharmacy in the essay-based track drew a large number of applicants, recording 344 to 1.
Sookmyung Women's University said on the 11th that 19,914 applicants had applied for 1,310 places after the early admissions application period closed.
The essay-based track received 9,943 applications for 214 places. In the natural sciences, the Division of Pharmacy recorded the highest ratio at 344 to 1, followed by the Department of Clothing and Textiles at 59 to 1. In the humanities, the Department of Social Psychology received 171 applications for three places, recording 57 to 1, while the Division of Law stood at 51.15 to 1.
The Sookmyung Talent (Interview-Based) Track, a comprehensive student-records track, received 5,039 applications for 361 places, recording 13.96 to 1. The Division of Life Systems had the highest ratio at 33.2 to 1, followed by the Division of Pharmacy at 27.13 to 1 and the School of Communication & Media at 22.13 to 1.
The Software Talent Track received 232 applications for 35 places, recording 6.63 to 1. The Division of Artificial Intelligence Engineering received 99 applications for 14 places, recording 7.07 to 1.
The Opportunity Equity Track received 542 applications for 71 places, recording 7.63 to 1. The School of Communication & Media stood at 18.5 to 1, the Department of Social Psychology at 17.00 to 1, and both the Department of Japanese Studies and the Le Cordon Bleu Hospitality Management Major at 13 to 1.
The Regional Balance Selection Track, based on school records, received 1,152 applications for 287 places, recording 4.01 to 1. The Division of Pharmacy had the highest ratio at 9 to 1, while the Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) Major stood at 7.67 to 1.
The Arts Creative Talent Track received 1,646 applications for 127 places, recording 12.96 to 1. Western Painting stood at 34.14 to 1, while the Department of Physical Education recorded 30.5 to 1.
Among admissions outside the regular enrollment quota, the ratios were 6.71 to 1 for applicants from rural and fishing communities, 9.33 to 1 for graduates of specialized high schools, 4.99 to 1 for employed graduates of specialized high schools, and 12.40 to 1 for applicants eligible for special education.
The essay exam for natural sciences, excluding the Department of Clothing and Textiles, will be held on November 21. The humanities exam and the exam for the Department of Clothing and Textiles will take place from November 21 to 22. Interviews for the Sookmyung Talent (Interview-Based) Track and the Software Talent Track will be held from November 28 to 29, while the interview for applicants eligible for special education will take place on November 28.
Practical exams for the Arts Creative Talent Track will be held by major in October. Final successful applicants for early admissions will be announced at 5 p.m. on December 18, while successful applicants for the Arts Creative Talent Track are scheduled to be announced at 5 p.m. on October 27.
