Konkuk University’s Early Admissions Draw 26.95 Applicants per Spot; Pre-Veterinary Medicine Reaches 212.17 to 1

[Financial News] Konkuk University announced on the 11th that 51,205 applicants applied for 1,900 places after applications for its 2027 early admissions closed.
By admissions unit, the Essay (KU Essay Excellence) track for Pre-Veterinary Medicine received 1,273 applications for six places, recording a ratio of 212.17 to 1. It was followed by the College of Liberal Arts’ Undeclared Major Division at 164.43 to 1, the Department of Media and Communication at 158.50 to 1, the Cultural Contents Major at 128 to 1, and the Department of Korean Language and Literature at 124.60 to 1.
The ratios for the major admissions tracks were 20.81 to 1 for Comprehensive School-Record (KU Self-Recommendation), 9.85 to 1 for School-Record-Based (KU Regional Balance), and 74.57 to 1 for Essay (KU Essay Excellence). The ratios were 19.09 to 1 for Comprehensive School-Record (Opportunity Balance), 18.23 to 1 for Comprehensive School-Record (Specialized High School Graduates), 6.58 to 1 for Comprehensive School-Record (Employed Specialized High School Graduates), and 10.60 to 1 for Comprehensive School-Record (Applicants Eligible for Special Education).
The KU Undeclared Major Division recorded ratios of 33.70 to 1 in the Comprehensive School-Record (KU Self-Recommendation) track and 76.05 to 1 in the Essay (KU Essay Excellence) track.
The ratios were 53.93 to 1 for Practical Skills/Achievements (Outstanding Acting), 37.10 to 1 for Practical Skills/Achievements (Outstanding Directing), and 13.38 to 1 for Practical Skills/Achievements (Athletic Talent).
The essay examination will be held on November 21, after the CSAT. Selection will be based entirely on the essay, and minimum CSAT requirements will apply.
Applicants to the humanities, natural sciences, and KU Undeclared Major Division must achieve a combined grade total of 5 or lower in two subjects among Korean, mathematics, English, social studies, and one science inquiry subject. For Pre-Veterinary Medicine, the combined grade total must be 4 or lower in three of those subjects. Applicants in all fields must receive a grade of 5 or higher in Korean history.
Interviews for comprehensive school-record-based admissions will be held on December 5–6 for applicants who pass the first-round document evaluation, with dates varying by college and admission track. The interview will assess academic competency at 30%, career competency at 40%, and community competency at 30%.
For the KU Undeclared Major Division, which selects students through the Comprehensive School-Record (KU Self-Recommendation) track, academic competency accounts for 20%, growth competency for 50%, and community competency for 30%. Based on the submitted documents, two evaluators will interview each applicant for approximately 10 minutes. Applicants’ names, examination numbers, and high school names will be anonymized, and school uniforms may not be worn.
Interviews for the Practical Skills/Achievements (Athletic Talent) track will be held on October 31. Practical examinations for the Practical Skills/Achievements (Outstanding Acting) track will take place from November 3 to 5, while the examination for the Practical Skills/Achievements (Outstanding Directing) track will be held on November 6.
Initial successful candidates for the Practical Skills/Achievements (Athletic Talent) track are scheduled to be announced on November 20. Results for the School-Record-Based, Comprehensive School-Record, Essay, and Practical Skills/Achievements (Outstanding Acting and Outstanding Directing) tracks are scheduled to be announced on December 18.
