[Financial News] The story of a 93-year-old father who hesitated to say even a single word about wanting chicken has gone viral online.
An anecdote about the father posted by Person A on a social networking service (SNS) on the 10th drew widespread attention after receiving more than 870,000 views in a single day.
Person A said, "At around 4:30 p.m., my father called and said, 'Is that you, the youngest? You know the seasoned fried chicken you bought for me last time. I’ve been thinking about it because I want to eat it. I tried to hold back, but I just keep thinking about it, so I called.'"
Person A replied to the call, "I’ll order it right away, so please wait just 30 minutes." But when the father responded, "I’m sorry," Person A said she burst into tears while ordering the chicken.
She explained why she cried, saying, "What was it that made my 93-year-old father hesitate so much before calling me?" Person A later told her siblings what had happened and added, "My older brother and sisters all became teary-eyed and felt heartbroken thinking about our father."
Readers also expressed sympathy with Person A’s story, thinking of their own parents. As comments continued with people sharing similar experiences, Person A said, "Thank you so much for empathizing with my feelings and wishing my father good health." She added, "This weekend, my older brother, eldest sister, third sister and I—the youngest—are going to see our father. We’ll tell him about the comments and convey the heartfelt sentiments behind them."
