[Financial News] A scene showing a man repeatedly blocking a platform screen door with his hand at a Seoul Metropolitan Subway platform, delaying a train’s departure, has been made public. The train doors had already closed, but the man reportedly prevented the platform screen door from closing.
The incident became known on the 11th through a video posted on social media under the title, “I can’t even imagine how angry the train operator must have been.”
The uploader explained that the video was filmed at around 11:58 p.m. the previous day on the northbound platform of Miasageori Station on Seoul Subway Line 4.
In the video, the man stood in front of the closed train doors after failing to board the train. Each time the platform screen door began to close, he repeatedly pushed it open with his hand.
Even after the train doors had closed, the man continued blocking the platform screen door, delaying the train’s departure. The train operator shouted, “Take your hand out—your hand!” to stop him, but the man reportedly continued his actions.
The situation was resolved only after a station employee ran onto the platform and stopped the man.
The uploader said the man had been repeating the same behavior before the filming began. “The man had been doing the same thing for one or two minutes before I started recording,” the uploader said. “Thanks to the station employee stopping him with a few words, the train was able to depart within three or four minutes.”
The man reportedly ultimately failed to board the train. “The train operator did not open the train doors for him until the end, so the man did not board that train,” the uploader added. “I don’t know what happened to him afterward, but I hope he is punished.”
Online users who saw the video criticized the man’s behavior. Comments included, “Does he think he absolutely has to get on even if he arrived late?”, “The other passengers were inconvenienced too,” “The train operator did the right thing by not letting him board,” and “This kind of behavior should be punished severely.”
