[Financial News] The University of Seoul Development Fund, which has awarded more than KRW 10 billion in scholarships to over 17,000 students during the past 26 years, provided approximately KRW 54 million in scholarships to 52 students in the second semester of this year.
The University of Seoul Development Fund held the 2026 second-semester Scholarship Certificate Presentation Ceremony in the university headquarters’ conference room on the 10th and presented certificates to the recipients, it announced on the 11th. This semester’s scholarships went to 52 students in total: 48 designated scholarship recipients selected by department and four university prestige enhancement scholarship recipients who brought recognition to the university through external activities and other achievements.
The scholarships were funded by donations pooled by alumni, professors, staff members, parents, and companies to help nurture talented individuals. The program aims to ease students’ concerns about tuition and help them grow by gaining broad social experience in addition to studying their majors.
Since its establishment in 2000, the fund has awarded nearly KRW 10.3 billion in scholarships to a total of 17,046 students over the 26 years through 2025, serving as a stepping stone for young people.
At the ceremony, President Won Yongkul urged the recipients, "I hope you will nurture big dreams for the future and continue to take bold challenges," adding, "I hope this will be an opportunity for you to consider how you can contribute to our society, rather than limiting your growth to personal advancement."
