[Financial News] Broadcaster Park Soo-hong, who suspended his social media activities following controversy over a delayed flight departure, returned to television activities after appearing on a live home-shopping broadcast about two weeks later.
According to Star News on the 11th, Park Soo-hong appeared on Company L’s home-shopping channel on the 7th after returning from a trip to Guam with his wife, Kim Da-ye, and their daughter, Jae-i.
The broadcast was conducted live. The home-shopping company explained, "Park Soo-hong does not appear on a regular basis. This was a one-time appearance arranged through consultations with a partner company."
Earlier, Park Soo-hong became embroiled in controversy over causing inconvenience to others after details emerged that he had said he wanted to get off a flight to Guam on the 23rd of last month because his child was crying and he was concerned about inconveniencing other passengers, before reversing that decision. The flight’s departure was delayed by about an hour due to security procedures and other factors during the process.
As the controversy spread, Park Soo-hong posted an apology on his social media on the 26th of last month, stating, "During the departure process of a recent flight, the departure was delayed because of my family. This caused great inconvenience by taking away the valuable time of many people, and it also caused harm to airline staff. I sincerely bow my head and apologize."
Regarding what happened at the time, he said, "As soon as we boarded, our child cried so much that we could not even take our seats. I panicked and made an inexperienced judgment. Because I thought the child’s crying during the long flight could cause even greater inconvenience to the passengers, I told a member of the cabin crew that I initially intended to get off the plane."
Park Soo-hong continued to apologize, saying, "While we were waiting inside the cabin, our child stopped crying, so I said that I wanted to board again. I failed to realize that this could significantly delay the process, including the security inspection. This happened entirely because of my lack of knowledge about aviation procedures, and there is no excuse for it." He added, "Once again, I sincerely bow my head and deeply apologize to the passengers and airline staff who suffered significant inconvenience because of my shortcomings."
