[Financial News] Micron Technology said it will provide its employees in Taiwan with a cash bonus of 1 million Taiwan dollars (approximately 42.5 million won), along with separate stock compensation.
Micron Technology said in a statement on the 11th that, including cash and stock compensation, the average compensation for entry-level engineers in Taiwan is expected to reach 3.4 million Taiwan dollars (approximately 145 million won) in fiscal 2026, which runs from September 2025 through August 2026.
It added that all employees in Taiwan will also receive stock compensation as part of their annual performance awards.
The move partially meets the demands of the local labor union, which had called for additional compensation in recognition of the company’s record-breaking performance.
The local union had previously demanded a one-time cash bonus equivalent to about seven years of employees’ base salaries. Foreign media reported that this would amount to an average of approximately $170,000 per employee (about 230 million won).
The union is also calling for part of the company’s operating profit to be allocated as bonuses for employees worldwide.
Micron Technology’s net income surged 15-fold year on year in the third quarter of fiscal 2026, from March through May. Its share price has risen by more than 500% over the past year.
Micron Technology currently employs approximately 15,000 people in Taiwan, its key production hub.
