Prosecutors Notify Roh So-young to Appear as Witness in Connection with ‘Kim Ok-suk Memo’; Schedule Being Coordinated

[Financial News] Prosecutors investigating allegations of a slush fund involving the family of former President Roh Tae-woo have notified Roh So-young, director of Art Center Nabi, to appear as a witness.
According to legal sources on the 11th, the Criminal Proceeds Recovery Division of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, headed by Chief Prosecutor So Jeong-su, recently notified Roh of the summons and is coordinating a date for her appearance.
Prosecutors plan to ask Roh when she first learned of the slush fund listed in the so-called “Kim Ok-suk memo” and to determine how the money was created and managed.
Depending on Roh’s testimony, prosecutors may also question her younger brother, Ro Jae-hun, South Korea’s ambassador to China.
Prosecutors recently questioned officials from the East Asia Cultural Center, which is suspected of having received funds through former President Roh’s wife, Kim Ok-suk, as well as former secretaries involved in managing Roh’s funds.
On the 21st of last month, prosecutors also searched Kim’s residence in Yeonhui-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, where she is staying, in connection with allegations that the Roh family violated the Act on Regulation and Punishment of Criminal Proceeds Concealment and evaded taxes.
The investigation was prompted by the “Kim Ok-suk memo,” which Roh submitted as evidence during her divorce proceedings against Chey Tae-won, chairman of SK Group.
The memo is reportedly believed to contain details of funds worth approximately 90.4 billion won that the Roh family allegedly managed.
