【Financial News Chuncheon=Kim Ki-seop】Gangwon State has begun developing a strategy covering everything from discovering products to distributing them in an effort to create regional flagship products with nationwide recognition.
According to Gangwon State on the 11th, Governor Woo Sang-ho held his second meeting of bureau and office heads since taking office that morning. Bureau and office heads and relevant officials attended the meeting, which focused on discussing the "Strategy for Creating Clean Gangwon Flagship Products."
The meeting was organized in response to the lack of flagship products and distribution networks with strong nationwide recognition. The Agricultural Policy Bureau presented a discussion centered on moving away from the existing approach of creating products first and then seeking sales channels. Instead, the plan is to first identify market demand, including demand from large companies, discover products with strong potential for actual sales and growth, and provide tailored promotion, marketing, and distribution support.
Based on the opinions presented at the meeting, Gangwon State plans to refine its strategy for discovering and selecting flagship product candidates, developing and manufacturing or processing products, promoting and marketing them, and securing distribution and sales channels. It will then develop specific follow-up measures. The state also plans to brand Clean Gangwon, one of its three major administrative policy directions, and link it with regional flagship products to strengthen Gangwon's competitive advantage as a clean region.
The meeting of bureau and office heads, newly operated under the ninth popularly elected administration, has shifted from a reporting-centered format to practical discussions aimed at developing policies and fleshing out plans. At the first meeting, held on the 14th of last month, participants discussed an AI data center development strategy, including workforce training sought by companies, temporary housing measures in response to the increase in construction workers, and the development of related industries. Follow-up reviews are under way.
Woo Sang-ho, governor of Gangwon State, said, "We will create a differentiated system unique to Gangwon that connects the primary processing of raw materials with distribution, enabling Gangwon companies to grow to the scale of small and medium-sized enterprises." He added, "We will boldly envision flagship products and distribution networks that visitors will want to eat and take home one by one—products they will want to buy because they are from Gangwon." He also indicated that the initiative would expand from various categories, including alcoholic beverages, food, handicrafts, processed foods, and merchandise, with a focus on food products.
