Gangneung Signs Memorandum of Understanding with 13 Institutions in Education Innovation Leading Region

According to Gangneung on the 11th, the city signed a memorandum of understanding with 13 institutions in the Gangneung Education Innovation Leading Region Regional Council at the situation room on the eighth floor of city hall that day. Gangneung, educational institutions, universities, research institutes and anchor companies representing the region participated in the agreement. They agreed to work together to address local education issues, including innovation at small schools.
The Gangneung Education Innovation Leading Region project focuses on enabling small schools to use competitive educational resources by leveraging the region’s characteristics and strengths. Its goal is to create an environment that provides students with diverse, high-quality educational opportunities regardless of school size.
Through this project, Gangneung plans to establish a region-centered education cooperation model in which various local stakeholders—including the education office and schools, as well as universities, research institutes and companies—participate as partners in education. The city will connect the region’s human and material resources and expertise with schools to create a foundation where every child can learn and grow in a better environment. It also plans to build an educational environment that encourages talent raised in the region to settle and remain there.
Kim Jungnam, mayor of Gangneung, said, "The 13 institutions will work closely together to improve the educational environment at small schools." He added, "When various local stakeholders think together and pool their efforts, we can create meaningful change. We will do our utmost to ensure that children in our region can nurture their dreams and grow in a better environment."
