"How Can You Park Like This?" Male Apartment Resident Makes 19-Year-Old Delivery Driver Cry

[Financial News] A 19-year-old female delivery driver filed a criminal complaint alleging that a male resident verbally abused and threatened her in the underground parking lot of an apartment complex in Siheung, Gyeonggi Province. Police have completed their interview with the victim and are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS)'s 'News Hunters' reported on the 10th that the incident occurred at around 3 p.m. on the 29th of last month. At the apartment complex, which had frequently received complaints urging faster deliveries, delivery driver A had turned on her hazard lights and spent about two minutes delivering packages before returning to her vehicle.
A male resident was standing in front of A with his family when she returned to her vehicle. The man was taking pictures of the delivery vehicle and reportedly cursed at A, saying, "Are you kidding me?" and "How can you park like this?" Even after A backed up her vehicle, the man allegedly followed her, struck the vehicle's window with his fist, and threatened her.
A said she was extremely frightened at the time. "He hurled abuse at me and approached me in a very threatening manner," she said. "Even though there was enough open space for him to drive around the vehicle, I was so scared and anxious because it felt as if he could kill me at any moment."
A also mentioned that the man left the scene. "If I had really blocked the road and made it impossible for him to leave, he should not have run away. But as soon as I reported him to the police, he quickly drove off somewhere," she said.
A reportedly suffered severe hyperventilation after the incident. She was unable to complete the remaining deliveries that day and had to ask a fellow driver for help. "It seems he started cursing at me without asking any questions simply because a young, small-framed woman was delivering packages," A said, describing the psychological distress she experienced.
A, who had been working as a delivery driver for nine months, gave up the apartment complex as part of her delivery route. She did so because she was afraid of encountering the man again, whom she identified as the alleged perpetrator, and her income reportedly declined as a result.
Police accepted A's criminal complaint and completed their interview with her as the victim. They plan to summon the other vehicle owner soon to investigate the specific circumstances of the incident.
Attorney Song Ji-won, who appeared on the broadcast, explained that whether an insult charge can be established may depend on whether other people were present in the underground parking lot at the time. Song also said authorities could consider whether the man's actions—striking the vehicle and loudly intimidating A—constituted assault or criminal intimidation.
