Café Opened With KRW 200 Million in Debt: Lee Dong-gun Responds to Green Pond Controversy, Says "Closure Procedures Completed"

[Financial News] Actor Lee Dong-gun faced controversy over alleged neglect after the current condition of the former site of his Jeju café was revealed. His representatives explained, "The café closed in July, and all legal procedures were completed before we left."
The controversy began on the 2nd, when the YouTube channel 'Kang Ho's Foot TV' uploaded a video showing the former site of Oasis 80, a café in Jeju's Aewol-eup that Lee Dong-gun had operated.
Oasis 80 was the café whose preparation process Lee Dong-gun had shown on the SBS TV variety program My Little Old Boy. At the time, he also drew attention by revealing that he had taken out a loan of approximately KRW 200 million to start the café.
The video showed a pond that had been built outdoors at the café. Fallen leaves floated on the dark green water, and the person filming, while examining the pond, said, "Because of the water, insects have hatched and are swarming. In the end, they just abandoned everything and left."
However, the video alone did not establish the exact cause of the pond's green color or whether an actual hygiene problem had occurred. It is also difficult to identify who currently manages the space.
After the video spread, representatives of Lee Dong-gun's agency, Double U Plus, told multiple media outlets, "The Oasis café operated by Lee Dong-gun already closed in July. All legal procedures were completed before we left."
They added, "As far as we know, another business has been operating there since sometime in August. We have not visited since the closure, so it is difficult for us to verify the situation," and drew a line under the matter, saying, "Since another business has already moved in, this is not an issue we can become involved in."
