Vice Minister Kim Yi-tak: "Even if LH is split, its headquarters will remain in Jinju, with no disadvantage to employees"

[Financial News] First Vice Minister Kim Yi-tak of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) said the government would pursue a plan to keep the headquarters of each organization in Jinju even if Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) is split into separate entities.
According to MOLIT on the 11th, Kim held an "LH Organizational Restructuring Kickoff Meeting" at 2 p.m. that day with LH President Lee Sung-hoon and others to discuss a detailed restructuring roadmap and preparations.
The meeting was a follow-up to the Ministry of Economy and Finance's "Plan for Reforming the Functions of Public Institutions," announced on the 3rd, which outlined the basic direction for restructuring LH. MOLIT and LH agreed to continue consulting on the preparations and key issues required during the restructuring process.
Kim said, "Now that the direction of LH's organizational restructuring, which has been discussed through the LH Reform Committee and other channels since August last year, has been decided, it is time for MOLIT and LH to move forward with implementing the restructuring as one team."
He added, "Starting with today's meeting, we must establish a detailed organizational restructuring roadmap and carefully address each necessary preparation so that the subsequent procedures can be carried out."
He also emphasized communication with employees. Kim said, "Organizational restructuring must be pursued on the basis of trust and communication among the government, the organization and its employees," adding, "LH itself should also listen actively to employees' difficulties and suggestions."
Regarding employee treatment following the organizational split, he stated, "We will carefully ensure that employees do not suffer disadvantages in their pay or other employment conditions," adding, "MOLIT will also actively consult with the Ministry of Economy and Finance and other relevant ministries."
He also made clear that the headquarters of the organizations created by the split would be located in Jinju. Kim said, "As LH has already relocated to a regional area, we plan to keep the headquarters of each organization in Jinju even if the organization is split."
Kim called on LH President Lee Sung-hoon to strengthen internal communication and maintain organizational stability. The message was that LH needs to manage the process at the organizational level to ease employees' concerns and allow them to focus on their duties.
Kim stressed, "Core duties directly related to the public, including housing supply and housing welfare, must proceed without disruption throughout the restructuring process," adding, "MOLIT and LH must work closely together to carry out ongoing tasks without setbacks while pursuing the organizational restructuring in a stable manner."
