Jang Dong-hyuk: "The Lee Jae-myung administration's defense policy is at an elementary-school level"

[Financial News] Jang Dong-hyuk, leader of the People Power Party, criticized the Lee Jae-myung administration's plan to integrate the Army, Navy, and Air Force academies on the 11th, saying, "It should be seen as an elementary school student coming in to formulate defense policy."
Jang visited the "on-site meeting opposing the relocation of the Republic of Korea Naval Academy" held at the Jinhae District Office in Gyeongsangnam Province, together with lawmakers Kang Sun-young, Kim Jang-gyeom, Park Sang-woong, Park Chung-kwon, and Lee Jong-wook.
Jang pointed out, "Out of the blue and without any justification, they say they will even close the Republic of Korea Naval Academy and merge the three military academies into one. This is an important national issue involving the future and security of the Republic of Korea, as well as the lives of its people, but for Jinhae residents, it is also an urgent matter of survival."
He said, "Even so, this administration is not listening to citizens at all. The Democratic Party of Korea administration repeatedly takes things away from citizens instead of helping them," adding, "The first principle of the Lee Jae-myung administration's governing philosophy seems to be, 'I will do what I want, so let the people try to stop me if they can.'"
Jang claimed, "The consolidation of the military academies being pushed by the Lee Jae-myung administration is an attempt to destroy national defense by shaking the foundation of the military and undermining the expertise of each service. I believe it is an absurd contradiction to say that jointness will be developed without any specialization from the moment students graduate from high school and become cadets."
He continued, "It even makes me wonder whether defense policy is being carried out according to North Korea's instructions," and vowed, "The People Power Party will certainly stop this hasty integration."
