[Breaking] Prosecutors Request Supplementary Investigation into Police Arrest-Warrant Request for Kim Byung-gi: "Insufficient Grounds Shown for Necessity"

[Financial News] Prosecutors requested a supplementary investigation into the police’s request for an arrest warrant for independent lawmaker Kim Byung-gi.

The Public Investigation Division 2 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, led by a chief prosecutor, said on the 11th that it had requested a supplementary investigation into the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s application for an arrest warrant for Kim.

The prosecution said, "Considering that the suspect responded to seven summons interviews and the progress of the investigation over approximately five months between the final interview with the suspect on April 10 and the application for an arrest warrant, the grounds presented for the necessity of detention are insufficient."

The prosecution added, "After carefully reviewing the evidence collected and the suspect’s explanations, we determined that some allegations require additional evidence, and therefore requested a supplementary investigation into them as well."
