【Financial News Ulsan=reporter Choi Soo-sang】 A woman who entered the sea while intoxicated in an apparent suicide attempt was saved after the Ulsan Coast Guard responded swiftly.
The Ulsan Coast Guard said it received a citizen’s report at 6:08 a.m. on the 11th stating, "This is Ulsan Ilsan Beach in Dong District, Ulsan, and a woman is crying as she walks into the sea."
When officers from the Ulsan Coast Guard’s Bangeojin Patrol Substation arrived at the scene, the woman was already struggling in water deeper than her height.
Fortunately, an officer who responded to the scene quickly approached her and handed her a rescue tube, allowing her to be brought to safety.
The woman, who is in her 40s and lives in Jung-gu, Ulsan, was handed over to her guardian without serious injury.
A Ulsan Coast Guard official said, "It was an unfortunate incident caused by psychological distress while she was heavily intoxicated, but the swift response and quick judgment of the officers at the scene prevented the loss of a precious life."※ If you are experiencing depression or other concerns that are difficult to discuss, or if you know a family member or acquaintance facing such difficulties, you can receive professional counseling 24 hours a day through the Suicide Prevention Hotline 109.[email protected] Choi Soo-sang Reporter
