Recruitment of 300 Scholarship Recipients from Highway Accident Victim Families in October... Restrictions on Multi-Child Families Abolished

[Financial News] The Korea Expressway Corporation and the Expressway Scholarship Foundation will select approximately 300 scholarship recipients, ranging from preschool children to university students, from families affected by expressway accidents. Starting this year, the limit of "maximum two children per household" has been removed, allowing eligible multi-child families to receive support regardless of the number of children.
According to the Korea Expressway Corporation on the 11th, applications for the '2026 Expressway Scholarship' will be accepted from the 14th to October 11th. Selected students will receive scholarships ranging from 2 million to 5 million won on a differential basis, depending on their school age and household income level.
Eligibility for support is limited to the children of individuals who died in highway traffic accidents or accidents occurring during highway construction or maintenance operations. Individuals diagnosed with severe disabilities due to such accidents and their children are also eligible to apply.
This year, in line with the government's policy to overcome the low birth rate, the existing "maximum of two children per household" criterion has been abolished. Accordingly, multi-child families that meet the eligibility requirements can apply for scholarships without any limit on the number of applicants.
Applicants should check the required documents on the Expressway Scholarship Foundation website and submit them by mail. The Foundation plans to select the final scholarship recipients this coming November following a review process and disburse the scholarships in December.
Since its establishment in 1996, the Expressway Scholarship Foundation has provided approximately 15 billion won in support to a total of 8,236 people through scholarship programs.
