Arts Council Korea, Uzbekistan and Seoul Arts Foundation Sign Series of Agreements to Expand International Exchange

[Financial News] Arts Council Korea has successively brought the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation and the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture on board as cooperation partners, broadening the foundation for international cultural and artistic exchange. It plans to expand opportunities for Korean artists to work overseas, from exchanges among artists and professionals in Central Asia to a literary residency in Australia.

Arts Council Korea said on the 11th that it had signed a memorandum of understanding with the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation (ACDF) on cultural and artistic exchange and cooperation at CCA Tashkent in Uzbekistan on the 5th.
Over the next three years, the two institutions will pursue exchanges among artists, professionals and arts organizations, capacity-building programs, the sharing of cultural and arts policies and best practices, and joint projects with major institutions including CCA Tashkent.
Established in 2017, ACDF is an institution under the Office of the President that oversees Uzbekistan’s cultural policy and international cultural exchange. It hosts the Bukhara Biennial, the first international biennial in Central Asia, and works with more than 40 international cultural institutions, including the Louvre Museum and the British Museum.
The agreement was reached following the Asia to Asia forum, part of the Global South Initiative, hosted by ARKO in July. At the time, cultural and arts institutions from four Asian countries—Uzbekistan, Thailand, Pakistan and India—agreed to expand exchanges of experts and residency programs, as well as joint funding for creation and production.
Lee Beom-heon, chairman of ARKO, said, "This agreement is an important milestone for the Global South Initiative. We will build networks among artists from the two countries and establish a sustainable model for cultural exchange across Asia."

Arts Council Korea and the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture signed a memorandum of understanding at Artists’ House in Daehangno, Seoul, on the 8th to promote international cultural and artistic exchange.
The two institutions plan to connect their respective resources and international networks to support artists’ overseas activities and expand citizens’ opportunities to enjoy culture and the arts.
As their first joint project, they will pursue a literary residency exchange program between Varuna, the National Writers’ House in Australia, and Yeonhui Literary Creation Village. A Korean literary writer to participate in the Australian residency will be selected through an ARKO open call in October.
Lee Beom-heon, chairman of ARKO, said, "Strategic cooperation among institutions is essential to introduce the unique value of our foundational arts to the world. We will build a sustainable model for international exchange based on the experience and resources of both institutions."
