HD Hyundai Robotics Makes Equity Investment in Aidin Robotics, Expanding Cooperation with Promising Companies

[Financial News] HD Hyundai Robotics has invested in Aidin Robotics, a company specializing in robotic sensing. The move is aimed at collaborating with technology companies to develop physical AI.
HD Hyundai Robotics announced on the 11th that it had invested 13 billion won to acquire a stake in Aidin Robotics.
Aidin Robotics develops sensor technology that precisely detects force and touch in robots. Its sensors measure capacitance to detect force and tactile information, and the company designs and manufactures them in-house. The technology is regarded as a key component for humanoid robots.
For physical AI, the key challenge is whether robots can precisely perceive, interact with, and control their physical surroundings. This is why Aidin Robotics' sensor technology is important to HD Hyundai Robotics' efforts to implement physical AI.
HD Hyundai Robotics plans to apply Aidin Robotics' force and tactile sensor technology to its own robotic platforms. In particular, the companies will jointly develop five-finger robotic hands specialized for shipbuilding and heavy industry, with plans to install them on HD Hyundai Robotics' humanoid robots.
The two companies will also jointly develop a surface-treatment automation business. The goal is to have robots perform tasks such as polishing and grinding that were previously carried out by people. They aim to begin with shipbuilding and heavy-industry sites before expanding into manufacturing industries across South Korea. Based on this effort, they plan to enter overseas markets, including shipyards in the United States.
A HD Hyundai Robotics official said, "This is a strategic decision to combine the capabilities of both companies and develop robotic solutions based on physical AI."
An Aidin Robotics official stated, "We plan to jointly develop next-generation robotic solutions that can be used in actual industrial settings and apply them across various industries in South Korea and abroad."
HD Hyundai Robotics plans to expand strategic cooperation with promising technology companies such as Aidin Robotics. The aim is to rapidly strengthen the technological capabilities of South Korea's robotics industry through joint development and solidify its position in the global market.
