[Financial News] Ahead of President Xi Jinping's visit to the United States scheduled for the end of this month, the Chinese government invited U.S. companies operating in the country to explain policies for attracting foreign capital and boosting consumption, urging them to make active investments.
On the 10th, Xinhua News Agency reported that the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China's economic control tower, expressed its intention to actively welcome increased domestic investment and market participation by foreign companies, including U.S. firms. The aim is to share in the growth opportunities created during the implementation of the Chinese government's newly launched "15th Five-Year Plan" for 2026–2030.
The National Development and Reform Commission stated this at a roundtable meeting attended by about 100 people, including officials from the American Chamber of Commerce in China and the U.S.-China Business Conference (USCBC), as well as representatives from over 60 U.S. companies operating in China.
At the meeting, the NDRC urged U.S. companies to act as a bridge connecting exchanges between the two countries and stated that it would support the discovery of potential for cooperation between the two nations and the fruition of practical cooperation projects.
At this meeting, Chinese officials explained the main outline of the '15th Five-Year Plan' and specifically introduced policy tasks to be pursued to promote foreign investment during the period. In response, representatives of U.S. companies in various sectors, including modern agriculture, home appliances, high technology, biopharmaceuticals, industrial manufacturing, and power, engaged in in-depth discussions with Chinese officials regarding key issues.
The Chinese government plans to promote a high level of openness to the outside world during the 15th Five-Year Plan and implement a series of policies to help foreign investors achieve sustainable growth in the Chinese market.
In particular, the outline of this five-year plan includes measures to significantly strengthen efforts to attract and utilize foreign capital, while also significantly improving the business environment for foreign investors and enhancing related policy support and service guarantees.
With President Xi's visit to the U.S. yet to be announced, China is expanding its contacts with the U.S. business community.
On the 1st, Premier Li Qiang met with a delegation from the Board of Directors of the U.S.-China Trade Council visiting China in Beijing, emphasized economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, and stated his intention to support the business activities of U.S. companies operating in China.
Premier Li stated, "Given the large scale of China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation, it is normal for some friction and disagreements to arise," adding, "Only by strengthening communication and negotiation in the spirit of mutual respect and equal dialogue can we find a way to resolve issues."
He also emphasized, "We will actively address the reasonable demands and interests of U.S. companies operating in China and create a market environment where various companies can compete fairly in accordance with the law."
