[Breaking] President Lee Jae Myung’s Approval Rating Falls to 38%, Hitting New Low Since Taking Office: Gallup Korea Research Institute

[Financial News] A poll released on the 11th found that President Lee Jae Myung’s job approval rating had fallen to 38%, the lowest level since he took office.
According to a survey conducted by the Gallup Korea Research Institute among 1,000 people aged 18 and older nationwide from the 8th to the 10th, 38% of respondents approved of President Lee’s job performance. That was down 2 percentage points from the 40% recorded in the first week of September, according to results released the previous week on the 4th, marking the lowest level since he took office.
Meanwhile, 51% disapproved of his job performance, saying he was “doing a poor job.” The gap between the approval and disapproval ratings widened to 13 percentage points. Another 11% withheld their opinion.
Among the reasons for disapproval, “real estate policy” accounted for the largest share at 24%. It was followed by “personnel appointments” at 16%, “the economy and people’s livelihoods” at 10%, “ethical issues and avoiding his own trial” at 6%, and “doing a poor job overall” at 4%. The share citing personnel appointments rose by 7 percentage points from the previous week.
The survey was conducted through computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) using wireless telephone random-digit numbers. The margin of sampling error was ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level, and the response rate was 9.4%.
