[Financial News] A sitting judge was caught by police after driving while intoxicated. The judge’s blood alcohol concentration was reportedly at a level warranting license suspension.
According to police on the 11th, Seoul Seocho Police Station has opened an investigation into Judge A of the Seoul High Court for allegedly violating the Road Traffic Act, including suspected drunk driving.
Judge A is accused of driving a vehicle while intoxicated at around 6 a.m. on the 9th on a road in Seocho District, Seoul.
Police responded to a report that there was a vehicle suspected of drunk driving and caught Judge A. No separate traffic accident or injuries were reported.
A police official said, "This was not an incident that led to an accident, but a case in which the person was caught for drunk driving alone," adding, "The blood alcohol concentration was confirmed to be at a level warranting license suspension."
After conducting a breath test at the scene, police allowed Judge A to return home. Police plan to summon the judge later to investigate the details of the incident.
A police official explained, "We have not yet questioned the person in person, so the specific circumstances still need to be confirmed," adding, "We plan to verify the detailed facts through a subsequent investigation."
