'Youth from Remote Islands and Mountainous Areas' Invited to Pangyo: Kakao Pay Supports Financial and Career Experiences

[Financial News] Kakao Pay announced on the 11th that it is providing financial and career experience opportunities for youth in island and mountainous areas. The program is the 'Sagak Sagak Face School Junior Camp,' launched last year to support youth in island and mountainous areas who have relatively fewer opportunities for financial education or career experiences.
This year, starting with Cheongni Middle School in Sangju, North Gyeongsang Province, on the 10th, the program plans to invite approximately 110 students and teachers from four schools in total, including Bubseong High School in Yeonggwang County, South Jeolla Province; Cheongsan Middle School in Okcheon, North Chungcheong Province; and Wondeok High School in Samcheok, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province. They will be provided with systematic financial education and diverse career and cultural experiences.
The participating schools were selected from among island and mountainous schools that had partnered with Kakao Pay through the Financial Supervisory Service's 'One Company, One School Financial Education' program and wished to participate.
The camp consists of financial education, career experiences, and cultural experiences tailored to young people's level of understanding.
On the first day, participating students will tour the Kakao Pay office in Pangyo and receive education on preventing financial fraud, which young people need to know about. They will also have an opportunity to explore careers in the fintech sector through 'Techfin Career Education,' jointly developed by Kakao Pay and the Korea Youth Financial Education Council.
They will then acquire accurate financial knowledge through a visit to the Life Insurance Education and Culture Center. On the second day, they will visit Korea Job World and take a Han River cruise, among other activities.
This camp is also part of 'Sagak Sagak Face School Junior Class,' Kakao Pay's flagship youth financial education support program.
Kakao Pay launched the 'Sagak Sagak Face School' campaign in 2023 to provide customized education and address digital financial blind spots. In January of last year, it signed a business agreement with the Korea Youth Financial Education Council and established a fund totaling 500 million won over three years. Through this fund, Kakao Pay is expanding customized support for young people, including the development of education programs exclusively for youth, financial education under the middle school free-semester system, and school-visit education through the 'One Company, One School' program.
Yoon Keun Lee, head of the Kakao Pay ESG Council, said, "The key is to provide practical experiential opportunities so that young people can learn sound financial knowledge and explore various future career paths regardless of where they live. We will continue supporting young people, the future leaders of finance, so that they can understand the changing digital financial environment and use it safely."
