Fu Bao's youngest sibling is named 'Shu Bao'... 30-fold growth in 100 days

[Financial News] The name of the baby panda born at Everland Panda World, who has reached 100 days of age, has been decided as 'Shu Bao'.
Everland, operated by Samsung C&T Corporation's Resort Division, announced on the 11th the name of the fourth and youngest baby panda in the panda family, born last June.
At Everland Panda World, following Fu Bao in 2020 and Rui Bao and Hui Bao in 2023, a fourth female giant panda was born through natural breeding on June 3 of this year to father Yuan Xin and mother Ai Bao.
The name Shu Bao follows the shared family syllable 'Bao (宝)' and means 'a treasure as bright as the dawn.' The baby panda's name was decided about two months after the nationwide naming contest began on July 13.
More than 10,000 customers participated in the first comment-based contest held through Everland's social media channels and the Zootopia Naver Cafe, freely submitting names for the baby panda. Subsequently, a naming selection committee composed of zookeepers and veterinarians narrowed the candidates to five—Shu Bao (曙宝), Zhu Bao (珠宝), Jun Bao (俊宝), Lin Bao (琳宝), and You Bao (佑宝)—after comprehensively considering factors such as meaning and pronunciation.
The second round of voting on the shortlisted names was conducted simultaneously online and offline through the Everland app, at the Panda World site, and on the social media of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, Seoul, recording a cumulative total of 220,000 votes. Among the five candidates, 'Shu Bao' received the most votes, with 42%, and was confirmed as the final name.
Because giant pandas are typically born prematurely weighing less than 200 grams, it is an international custom to give them Chinese names around 100 days after birth, when their health has stabilized. Shu Bao's older sister, Fu Bao (福宝, 'a treasure that brings happiness'), was also named through public participation around the time she was 100 days old.
Shu Bao weighed only 171 grams at birth, but she has now surpassed 5.5 kilograms and has grown more than 30-fold in her first 100 days.
Everland explained, "Behind this healthy growth were the devoted maternal care of her mother, Ai Bao, and the dedicated care of Everland's zookeepers and veterinarians."
Zookeeper Kang Cheol-won, known as 'Grandpa Panda,' said, "Thanks to the warm interest and love of people across the country, our youngest, Shu Bao, was able to grow healthy and beautiful through her 100th day." He added, "Please continue to support and show affection for Shu Bao as she thrives under the devoted care of her mother, Ai Bao, and the zookeepers."
An Everland official said, "We are reviewing plans to introduce Shu Bao to the public within the year after closely observing her growth and allowing her to adapt to the external environment."
