National Para Games to Be Held in Jeju for the First Time... Fierce Competition in 31 Sports

[Financial News] The National Para Games, the country's largest comprehensive sports competition for people with disabilities, will be held in Jeju Province for the first time. National team athletes who will compete in the Asian Para Games next month will also participate to showcase their skills.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) on the 11th, the '46th National Para Games' will be held in Jeju Province from today through the 16th. The event began in 1981, and this is the first time Jeju Province has hosted it in 45 years.
The event is hosted by the Korea Paralympic Committee (KPC) and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST). It is organized by Jeju Province, the Jeju Provincial Office of Education, and the Jeju Provincial Paralympic Committee, under the slogan "Korea Running Together in Shining Jeju."
More than 9,000 people, including athletes from 17 cities and provinces nationwide and Korean-American sports organizations, will participate. Competitions in 31 sports, including track and field, swimming, boccia, and wheelchair rugby, will be held at 39 venues across the province.
This competition also serves as a prelude to the '2026 Asian Para Games.' The 2026 Asian Para Games will be held in Japan from October 18 to 24, about a month after the closing of the National Para Games. For national team members, it is an opportunity to test their competitive form ahead of the international competition.
The opening ceremony will be held at Jeju World Cup Stadium at 7 p.m. today. Kim Dae-hyun, the Second Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will declare the opening. On the 12th, he will visit Jeju Multi-Purpose Sports Complex and Daehyeon Perfect Bowling Club to watch the men's and women's badminton and bowling finals.
All events are free to attend. The finals in boccia, table tennis, and badminton will be broadcast on KBS1, while the opening and closing ceremonies and competitions in all sports can be viewed on the Korea Paralympic Committee's internet broadcast channel, KPC-TV.
