“Humiliated” ... Female Singer in Her 40s Charged with Death Penalty After Pouring Hot Water on and Beating Her Biological Daughter to Death

[Financial News] Prosecutors have sought the death penalty for a female YouTuber and singer in her 40s accused of assaulting and killing her teenage biological daughter.
At the closing hearing held on the 10th before the First Criminal Division of the Jinju Branch of the Changwon District Court, prosecutors asked the court to sentence the YouTuber to death on charges including murder.
Prosecutors said, “The YouTuber became delusional, believing that she had been ‘humiliated in social life’ because of her daughter. She repeatedly beat her daughter with a wooden club and poured hot water on her head, causing second-degree burns to parts of her body.”
They continued, “Although her daughter repeatedly pleaded that she was having difficulty breathing, the defendant left her unattended.” Prosecutors added, “The daughter, betrayed by the parent she should have trusted and relied on most, died in extreme pain.”
They also stressed, “Given her past record of assaulting a spouse and other factors, the risk of reoffending is high, making it necessary to permanently separate her from society.”
The YouTuber’s attorney argued, “Although the prosecution’s indictment is based on the autopsy report, experiments or the circumstances could produce different results. It is excessive to apply the murder charge based solely on the report.”
The sentencing hearing is scheduled to take place in the same courtroom on the following 8th.
