According to JTBC’s “Incident Chief” on the 8th, informant A recently discovered a water leak at an apartment in Busan and searched online for a nearby plumbing contractor. She called the company to ask about the inspection cost but received an unexpected response.
When A asked, “I’m trying to have an apartment electrical-leakage inspection done. How much does it usually cost?” company representative B mentioned the type of customers the company dealt with instead of providing a price. B said, “Our company doesn’t do business with people who have no money,” adding, “We work with people who have some financial leeway. We don’t work with people who don’t have money.”
A protested the remark. When she asked, “How do you know whether someone has no money, and how can you say that?” B replied, “Only people who don’t have money ask how much it costs,” and added, “People with money don’t ask how much it costs like ordinary customers do.”
A explained that she had only been trying to find out the cost. She said, “I asked because I wanted to consult with you and get a rough idea of how much it would be,” but B allegedly raised his voice and began demanding, “Why are you picking a fight?”
People who saw the story said the company’s response was inappropriate.
