[Financial News] Shopping NT, the T-commerce channel of TRN, a media affiliate of Taekwang Group, launched a sharing initiative for low-income senior citizens in the local community ahead of Chuseok.
Shopping NT said on the 10th that it held a holiday food package-sharing event the previous day at Sindang General Social Welfare Center in Seoul's Jung-gu district. The company delivered 300 Chuseok special meal packages, worth a total of approximately 20 million won, to around 300 low-income senior citizens in the area.
Each package contained food items that senior citizens could easily prepare or eat, including five types of retort soup, yakgwa, apples, pears, porridge, dried seaweed, instant noodles, and canned food. Each set was worth approximately 60,000 won.
Seventeen Shopping NT employees participated in the event. They packed the holiday food packages at the welfare center's auditorium, then visited the homes of senior citizens with limited mobility to deliver the packages and check on their well-being.
Shopping NT CEO Sangwook Han said, "Shopping NT's growth has been possible because of our coexistence and shared prosperity with the local community." He added, "To fulfill our social responsibilities as a company, we will establish a culture of sharing both online and offline through donations of goods and employee volunteer activities, and continue expanding our social contribution efforts to provide practical help to people who are underserved by the welfare system."
