Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Holds Policy Forum on Industrial Technology Protection, Strengthening Response to Technology Crimes

[Financial News] The Industrial Technology Security Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency (SMPA) said it held the Policy Forum for Industrial Technology Protection at the agency’s headquarters in Seoul on the afternoon of the 10th.
The forum was organized to enable the public, private and academic sectors to discuss future responses to technology crimes and policy directions for technology protection, as police seek to respond more proactively to changes in the economic security environment, including the recent rise in technology crimes and revisions to espionage offenses.
The Industrial Security Council is a consultative body comprising institutions involved in technology protection, security officials from major companies, and experts from academia and the legal profession. It operates to expand the reporting network for technology leaks and share technology trends, investigation cases and security policies.
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency stated, "Industrial technology leaks are serious crimes directly linked to national competitiveness and security, going beyond losses to individual companies." It added, "We will establish a response system centered on prevention by reflecting voices from the field in investigations and policymaking."
