Hansung University will select 92 freshmen for the Department of AI Convergence Design through its 2027 early-admission process. This year, the practical skills examination will consist solely of “Basic Design,” following the suspension of admissions to the night program.
Hansung University announced on the 10th that it will hold the practical skills examination for early admission to the Department of AI Convergence Design on October 18, from noon to 4 p.m., for a total of four hours.
The number of students selected by admissions track is 86 through the Outstanding Practical Skills Track, four through the Rural and Fishing Communities Track, and two through the Specialized High School Graduates Track, for a total of 92 students.
For the Outstanding Practical Skills Track, the practical examination accounts for 80% of the evaluation, while school-record academic performance accounts for 20%. Based on the assigned topic and conditions, the examination comprehensively assesses applicants’ formative skills, expressive ability, spatial composition skills, and design capabilities.
In particular, for the 2027 academic year, the practical examination will use only Basic Design because admissions to the night program have been suspended. Applicants should check in advance the examination format and preparation requirements for their respective admission unit and track.
Beginning with the 2027 academic year, Hansung University will also reorganize its design education around AI, including restructuring the existing College of Design as the College of AI Design.
The existing Division of Global Fashion Industry will be renamed the Department of AI Fashion, the Department of ICT Design will become the Department of AI Convergence Design, and the Department of Beauty Design Management will become the Department of AI Beauty Design. The changes are intended to combine existing design education with training in AI and advanced technologies.
The Department of AI Convergence Design plans to offer a curriculum in which students use AI technology to develop ideas and solve problems based on fundamental design skills, including formative and expressive abilities.
Information on each applicant’s examination room and detailed instructions will be posted on the Hansung University admissions office website on October 14, four days before the examination. Applicants must also check the examination venue, check-in time, required materials, and precautions.
Park Jong-eon, director of Hansung University’s admissions office, said, "Applicants must check not only the practical examination schedule but also the detailed information, including the examination venue, check-in time, required materials, and precautions."
