Hanyang University ERICA Expands IC-PBL from Local to Global... "Strengthening AI and Convergence Education"

[Financial News] Marking the 10th anniversary of the introduction of 'IC-PBL,' an educational model that solves real-world problems in the classroom, Hanyang University ERICA has unveiled a new future education strategy centered on regional, convergence, global, artificial intelligence (AI), and student capabilities. The plan is to expand the scope of IC-PBL application from a focus on regional and individual majors to global and convergence education by 2039, the 100th anniversary of Hanyang University's founding.
Hanyang University ERICA announced on the 10th that it held the 'Hanyang University ERICA IC-PBL 10th Anniversary NEXT HORIZON 2039' event at the ERICA Campus Conference Hall on the 9th and declared this future education strategy.
IC-PBL is a field-linked problem-based learning method that enables students to solve real-world problems faced by industries or local communities during the course of study. Hanyang University ERICA introduced this system in 2016 and has been operating educational programs linked with external organizations, such as industries and local governments, in both curricular and extracurricular courses.
Moving forward, IC-PBL will not be limited to regional cooperation but will be expanded into convergence and global education, and advanced technologies such as AI will be incorporated to strengthen students' career and practical competencies.
'NEXT HORIZON 2039,' announced by Hanyang University ERICA on this day, focused on expanding the IC-PBL system, which has been operated for the past 10 years, to university education as a whole.
The plan envisions integrating new technologies, such as AI, into existing educational methods where students directly address real-world problems, and expanding cross-disciplinary education and international partnerships. It also aims to strengthen cooperation with local communities and industries to ensure that educational experiences lead to students' career paths and competencies.
Hanyang University President Lee Ki-jeong stated, "The most significant achievement over the past 10 years is proving that IC-PBL is an educational system capable of functioning in actual university education and establishing it as an educational culture representing Hanyang University ERICA." He continued, "We will further expand the horizons of IC-PBL from the local to the global, from individual majors to convergence, and from educational experiences to students' competencies and career paths," adding, "We will connect the experience of the past 10 years to Hanyang's future for the next 100 years."
