"My Drunk Father-in-Law Came Over at 9 p.m."—A Daughter-in-Law's Unfair Ordeal [What Do You Think?]

[Financial News] A daughter-in-law's story has emerged after she sent her heavily intoxicated father-in-law straight home when he arrived late at night, only to be told by her mother-in-law that she felt hurt.
The story became known through a post titled “My Father-in-Law Came Over at 9 p.m.” uploaded to an online community for office workers on the 7th.
The poster, identified only as Ms. A, said her father-in-law came to her home heavily intoxicated while she was having a late dinner with her family.
The father-in-law reportedly fell in the entryway as soon as he entered the house. Even when he was invited inside, he was unable to control himself and crawled as far as the living room. While her husband attended to his father, Ms. A immediately called her mother-in-law and said, "Father is so drunk that he can barely stand. I think he should come with my younger brother-in-law." After talking at the house for about five minutes, the father-in-law left with his wife and son once they arrived.
Two days later, Ms. A heard from her husband that his mother had felt hurt. The mother-in-law reportedly said, "You should have offered him some honey water first, watched the situation, and then called me. I came here the whole way with my heart pounding, as if I were being chased," accusing Ms. A of failing to properly treat her father-in-law. She believed Ms. A should have given him honey water or attended to him for about 20 minutes to let him sober up, then politely contacted her to ask whether she should come and take him home.
The mother-in-law reportedly criticized the couple, saying, "Seeing how you acted that day, I can tell you won't treat us well later on." Ms. A said, "That day, Father repeatedly refused even when we offered him food and water. We contacted his family quickly because of the situation, so I feel it is unfair that we were scolded," and asked, "Objectively, did I do anything wrong?"
Most commenters responded that Ms. A had not done anything seriously wrong. Comments included, "This was not a normal situation, so naturally conveying the facts came first," "Ms. A did everything she reasonably could," and "The responsibility lies with the father-in-law instead."
Commenter B said the mother-in-law's reaction was excessive. "When a heavily intoxicated father-in-law shows up without warning, what else could Ms. A and her husband have done besides contacting his family?" B wrote. "They did not turn him away at the door, so I think the mother-in-law overreacted."
