[Financial News Daegu = Reporter Kim Jang-wook] The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education will expedite 33 billion won in payments, including construction costs, ahead of the Chuseok holiday.
The measure is intended to ease the financial difficulties of local businesses and prevent wage arrears for construction site workers.
In particular, the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education plans to actively inform contractors working on projects commissioned by the education office and individual schools about payment claim systems, including progress payments, advance payments, and the separate management system for labor costs, so that they can claim payment before the holiday.
Kang Eun-hee, superintendent of education, emphasized, "I hope construction payments will be made promptly ahead of the Chuseok holiday and help local businesses manage their finances," adding, "I hope everyone can enjoy a joyful and abundant Chuseok without wage arrears for on-site workers."
The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education plans to complete progress and final inspections within five days and make payments within three days after contractors submit claims for construction costs, thereby completing payment before Chuseok.
Construction budgets allocated to individual schools will also be disbursed and executed early.
All construction sites will be subject to guidance and inspections to check for unpaid wages, subcontracting fees, and payments for materials and equipment.
In addition, an official letter will be sent to construction company representatives urging them to prevent payment arrears.
