【Financial News, Naju = Hwang Tae-jong】 KEPCO Plant Service & Engineering, a company specializing in power equipment maintenance, is working with young people to achieve carbon neutrality in the local community and promote ESG (environmental, social, and governance) values.
According to KEPCO Plant Service & Engineering on the 10th, the company held the launch ceremony for 'ESG Youth-lab (Youth ESG Lab)' at Chosun University the previous day and will carry out full-scale activities over the next three months. 'ESG Youth-lab (Youth ESG Lab)' is a hands-on program designed to raise young people's awareness of ESG and strengthen their climate sensitivity in pursuit of carbon neutrality.
KEPCO Plant Service & Engineering operates the program in close cooperation with the Jeonnam Carbon Neutrality Support Center and local universities.
Officials from KEPCO Plant Service & Engineering, the Jeonnam Carbon Neutrality Support Center, and Chosun University attended the launch ceremony. The organizations also agreed to introduce and operate a 'capstone-linked project.' Participating students will go beyond simply studying theory by carrying out capstone design projects to identify practical ESG-related challenges in the local community and explore solutions.
A KEPCO Plant Service & Engineering official said, "'ESG Youth-lab' is a meaningful, participatory activity that allows young people to take the lead in putting ESG values into practice in their daily lives and local communities. In particular, we hope that the capstone-linked project with Chosun University will generate fresh ideas."
The participating students will also produce outcomes such as prototypes and policy proposals linked to their undergraduate courses. They will carry out various practical activities to address energy and carbon-neutrality challenges based on energy engineering.
A KEPCO Plant Service & Engineering official emphasized, "As a public power company, we will continue to do our utmost to achieve sustainable carbon neutrality together with future generations."
