[Financial News] Composer and broadcaster Don Spike, who was released after serving a prison sentence for drug use, has shared an update on his life.
On the 10th, Don Spike wrote on his social media, "I spent time reflecting on the mistakes I made four years ago and looking back on the life I had lived," adding, "It was a precious time during which I resolved how I would live the rest of my life so that I would not repeat the same mistakes."
He continued, "In the meantime, with the help of some good people, I am preparing for a new beginning in Gampo, Gyeongju, a beautiful seaside town," and shared an update, saying, "I will do my very best not to disappoint the many people who are looking forward to this and supporting me."
A day earlier, on the 9th, Don Spike had also posted, "Almost there. Only a little finishing work remains," along with a photo of the exterior wall of a store overlooking the sea. The photo displayed the words “BARBACOA by donspike.”
Given that he previously worked in the food-service business, including running a barbecue restaurant, he is presumed to be preparing to start a new life as a self-employed business owner.
Don Spike was previously indicted on charges including purchasing approximately 45 million won worth of methamphetamine on nine occasions beginning in December 2021 and using it 14 times.
He was sentenced at trial to three years in prison suspended for five years, but the appeals court sentenced him to two years in prison. The sentence was finalized by the Supreme Court of Korea in September 2023, after which he completed his term and was released.
